The Tourist has been selected as a finalist for the inaugural Great North Shorts Film Festival, which will be held in the Sydney suburb of Hornsby. The film festival is supported by Greater Union cinemas.

Here are the details for the screening:
Greater Union Hornsby, Cinema 1
Friday 22 October, 6pm
Tickets – $15 (includes popcorn and drink)
Tickets are available to purchase from the cinema on the night.

To coincide with the screening of my new short Letters To Sally, I’ll also be screening The Tourist plus other short films from local filmmakers Danielle Lauren and Oli Leimbach & Max Seager. This is a cast and crew screening but we have space for the public as well, so feel free to come along and bring some mates too.

DATE: Thursday 29 October, 2009
WHERE: Chauvel Cinema (Cnr Oxford St & Oatley Rd, Paddington)
TIME: 6:30pm (finishes 8pm)
COST: $5 a ticket.

Since starting in 1999, the iF Awards are regarded as the iconic way for the public to give their voice and ratings on Australian cinema over the past year. As “The Tourist” screened at an iF registered event (the Dungog Film Festival) it is eligible to be voted for Best Short Film!

‘The Tourist’ screening at Dungog this Sunday

The program for the 2009 Dungog Film Festival has been announced with ‘The Tourist’ being screened as part of the ‘Mini Flicks Part 4′ lineup this Sunday afternoon. The session starts at 12:45pm and will be played at the James Theatre. To purchase tickets click here.

‘The Tourist’ to screen in Newtown

“The Tourist” will be screening as part of the Newtown Flicks Short Film Festival. Finalists are yet to be announced but the sessions for Saturday and Sunday (23 – 24 May) have been finalised. “The Tourist” is the second film scheduled in the ‘Sunday Offerings’ session, starting at 12pm.

‘The Tourist’ has been selected into two more film festivals: Dungog Film Festival in NSW, Australia and Washougal International Film Festival in Washington, USA.

Dungog Film Festival celebrates it’s third year of screening Australian films and for the first time will be including films from New Zealand into the program. ‘The Tourist’ to screen in Sydney (…finally!)

The Tourist’ has been selected to screen in Heat 2 of the BooHoo Films Short Film Competition. BooHoo Films screens three heats and based upon audience voting, determines the final round of films that will screen in June.

So if you’re in Sydney, head to Newtown on Monday 20th April and see my little short on the big screen! Details below:

‘The Tourist’ wins award at Shepparton!

‘The Tourist’ was awarded the New Horizons Festival Theme Award last Friday night at the Shepparton Shorts Film Festival in Victoria.

About 150 people turned out to watch the 14 finalists.

Thanks for all the support and feedback on the The Tourist’s web premiere. If you were unaware please scroll down to watch The Tourist. We are pleased to announce that The Tourist has been selected into two more film festivals over the past few days.

“The Tourist” has been officially selected in the Short Sited Film Festival in Wollongong. Not only this, the festival organisers put together a DVD of all the finalists even with bonus features, so all finalists are asked to submit a director’s commentary!

The awards night is Friday 13 March at the Uni Hall, University of Wollongong.

Short Sited Film Festival 2009

“The Tourist” has been officially selected in the Shepparton Shorts Film Festival in Victoria! Located 200km north of Melbourne, the festival aims at promoting independent Australian filmmaking. There’s an additional award this year if a film relates to the theme of ‘New Horizons.’

The awards night is on Friday 13 March, the same night as the Short Sited Film Festival in Wollongong! Busy night…
